Video Instructions

To save files from YouTube to show later

  1. Go to YouTube and select the video you want to save.
  2. Copy the URL  (go to the address bar – highlight – right click – copy)
  3. Open a new Tab – and go to keepVid.com.
  4. Paste the URL from YouTube in the Download line of KeepVid.
  5. Click on the Download button on the right side of the bar.
  6. In the Download video section – find the version you want (mp4, flv, etc)
  7. Right click on the “Download” link
  8. Select “Save Link As..”
  9. Select a location and change the file name (if you want)
  10. Make sure you keep the file extension (i.e.  .mp4, .flv, etc.)
  11. You can now put this video on a flash drive to bring to school.

 

Download & Install a video player to play flv and mp4 files

  1. Go to www.videolan.org/vlc/
  2. Under Download VLC – pick the operating system you need (i.e. Windows).
  3. You will see Latest Packages
  4. For Windows – you will probably want to use “Windows self-extracting package”.
  5. Click on the download button in the section below.
  6. Select “Save File”
  7. Wait for it to finish downloading.
  8. Either from the “Download” Window or from the location the file saved – double click on the file
  9. Select the language you want
  10. Follow on screen directions from there.

Watching and/or showing the video

    • After you have downloaded the video and installed the video player –
    • Either
      • Double click on the video you want to watch OR
      • Open VLC media player
        • Select Media
        • Select Open File
        • Navigate to the video you want to watch
