Google Sites Backup

This is a short guide to show you how to back-up your Google site and how to revert back to old versions of a web page.

Preparation

Before you begin:

  • Go to "My Documents"
  • Create a folder and name it "Google Site Backup"

Backing up your site

1. Download the Import/Export tool from http://code.google.com/p/google-sites-liberation/
You will find the most recent version to download in the Featured downloads on the right side of the page, look for the green box.

2. After downloading the program double click it to run it.

A. Leave this as is.

B. Leave this field blank.

C.This is the name of your site, which in most cases will be oly followed by your first and last name in all lowercase.

To find your site name look at the url of your Google Site, for example the name of the site below is olydaleadkins2010.

D. Make sure this box is checked.

E. Put the user name that you use to log into your google site with in this text field.

F. Put the password that you use to log into your google site with in this text field.

G. Click on "Choose Target Directory" and go to the folder "Google Site Backup" inside of "My Documents".

3. Once all the fields have been filled click on the export button and your site will begin to back-up.
