Use Audacity to record your “podcast”.

  1. Open Audacity (if you don’t have it, Download it from" ")
  2. Make sure you have a microphone set up and you are ready to record.
  3. Press the record button.
  4. Record

  5. Begin your reading, presentation, etc.
  6. When done, press the stop button.
  7. Stop

  8. Go to <File> <Export as mp3>
  9. Export

  10. Press <OK>
  11. In the <Save in:> window - navigate to the folder you want your file to be saved.
  12. In the <File name:> window - type the name of the file 
    1. It will automatically include the .mp3 extension
    2. However you won’t see it on the screen at the time
  13. In the <Save as Type: > window - make sure it says "(external program)"
  14. You can now navigate to that folder and access that file.
  15. This file may be:
    1. Played directly from your computer.
    2. Uploaded to your webpage using DreamWeaver (or similar software).
    3. Uploaded to your webpage using Google Sites.

If you plan on making .mp3 files, you will need an additional file.

  • Under Libraries - Click on the LAME FAQ link.
  • There you will find a set of instructions for downloading and using the lame extension.
