The Economic Crunch - Tips for Coping

The current state of our economy is unsettling for everyone - including young people. Many families are in crisis and stories of job losses, home foreclosures and the dropping stock market abound in the news. Even students not directly affected can be impacted by the stress of a community or neighborhood in need.

As counselors we are seeing and speaking with an increased number of parents and students feeling the stress of these trying times. We encourage everyone to remember to take time out for self care. Eating right, exercising, and getting enough sleep are always important and even more so during times of stress. Consider limiting the amount of time spent listening to newscasts focused on tragedy and economic disaster.
