September

    SATs Register By Sept. 1 for Oct. 1 test
    ZAPS - SAT prep class. Flyers will be sent home with Info, Date, and Cost.
    Register at www.ZAPS.com
    ACT—Sept 10* www.actstudent.org
    • Register at least one month ahead of time
    Meet with Beyond Sprague Consultants for post high-school plans.
    Get a PIN number so you can sign your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) online www.pin.ed.gov
    Parent and Students need separate pin #s.
    Look for scholarships right away. Those with early deadlines often have few applicants!
    Research schools in guidebooks and on the web.
    • Contact colleges/schools for applications; check which tests are required.
    • Attend College Fairs.

     

October

    SAT- October 1
    • Register at least one month ahead of time at www.collegeboard.com
    College and Career Night at Sprague High School. 5:30-6 College fair in commons put on by AVID program and 6-7:30 presentation in Pantheon put on by Princeton Review – TBA
    National College Fair, Portland, Oct 23 - Oct 24 at Oregon Convention Center
    National College Fair, Oregon Convention Center Oct 23, 1:00pm -5:00pm & Oct 24, 9:00am - noon
    ACT—October 22
    • Register at least one month ahead of time
    Chemeketa College Fair 5 pm on Oct 24. Scholarship raffle and tablets given away
    Meet with college representatives who visit Oct. thru May.
    Submit CSS (College Scholarship Service) Profile application to schools requiring the Profile
    Do both Financial Aid sorts on CIS. You'll find many scholarships to apply for
    Review your graduation and college requirements with your counselor
    Plan visits to colleges, schedule interviews, stay overnight & visit classes. Work on rough draft essays for college or scholarships. Send in early decision/early action applications.

    Hybrid SAT/ACT at Sprague- November 15
    NCAA Athletes - Check requirements & deadlines
    Gather financial aid information. Print a worksheet from FAFSA web site so you’re ready to submit by January 1 www.fafsa.ed.gov
    Attend PARENT NIGHT this month at Sprague to learn more about getting in and paying for college. TBA
    Do both Financial Aid sorts on CIS. You’ll find many scholarships to apply for.
    Request recommendation letters from teachers and counselors. Request 3 weeks in advance of the date needed
    OSU & UO early notification deadline is Nov 1. Mail Academy & ROTC applications. California public universities app deadline is Nov 30.

December

    Score Back Session during the evening at the Sprague Pantheon. - December 3
    SAT – December 3
    • Register at least one month ahead of time
    ACT - December 10
    • Register at least one month ahead of time
    Observe application and scholarship deadlines
    Keep your grades up! Colleges look at first semester AND year-end grades
    Check admission deadlines for Oregon and other colleges.
    Apply to at least 3 schools

     

January

    SAT - January 21
    • Register at least one month ahead of time
    Complete FAFSA online ASAP after January 1. Use estimates for income if needed. You can revise later.
    Watch those application deadlines, apply to at least 3 schools
    Send first semester official transcript to colleges. Request in the Business Office.
    Request housing apps from colleges. U of O deadline: Jan 15.

     

February

    ACT - Feb. 11

    • Register at least one month ahead of time
    College acceptance letters may begin arriving!
    Send in CSS Profile to the schools that require it
    Keep checking the Scholarship Board and deadlines.
    Submit applications to community colleges—take placement tests
    OSU Deadline: Feb. 1

     

March

    SAT - March 11 www.collegeboard.com
    • Register at least one month ahead of time
    Sign up for AP Exams
    Watch for Student Aid Report to arrive, giving you the amount of student aid for which you are eligible
    OSAC Scholarship due March 1

     

April

    ACT—April 8
    Oly Pageant 7 pm at Elsinore Theatre—April 15
    Portland College Fair —April 30
    Prom - At Zenith Vineyards on April 28
    Send acceptance letter & rejection letters to colleges. Include deposit if required
    Some scholarships have late deadlines – keep checking!
    Send thank you to teachers, counselor, or anyone who helped you through the process

     

May

    SAT - May 6
    • Register at least one month ahead of time
    Luau - May 19
    AP Exams First 2 weeks of May
    Sign & return financial award letter
    Check WUE if you are attending a Western States college www.wiche.edu/sep

     

June

    SAT - June 3
    • Register at least one month ahead of time
    ACT – June 10
    • Register at least one month ahead of time

     

    Senior Banquet - 6:00pm on June 7
    Senior Awards Assembly - 9:00am on June 8
    Graduation and All Night Party– June 9
     
    Look for information from the college about housing, roommate(s), orientation, and course selection.
    Request your final transcript be sent to the college you will be attending.
