Optimist Student of the Month

Shanti Basu is a junior at Sprague High School. Early in her high school curriculum she wanted to improve her public speaking skills so she took a marketing class and was hooked.

She got involved in the DECA chapter at Sprague which is an organization that helps prepare students leaders for marketing and finance related careers.

As a sophomore she competed at the DECA national competition in Atlanta, Georgia and is hoping to do the same again this year in Orlando, Florida.

Shanti manages the student store at Sprague, is involved in the Spanish club and also plays soccer.

She is planning on pursuing a career in marketing and business, but has not picked a college yet, but one of the possibilities is Willamette University where her father is a professor.

Congratulations Shanti!
