World Beat Art Contest

We just received word that for a second year in a row, our Sprague art students won 1st Place in the high school classroom division of the 2013 World Beat Art Contest! The artistic theme for the contest this year was to celebrate Japan and its landscape, culture, and traditions. There was an extra challenge for the art as well. There could be in no more than three colors and/or black and white. Once again, we won a $200 gift certificate from the Art Department.

In addition, senior art star Heather Youngberg won Honorable Mention, High School Individual.

There will be an awards ceremony at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, May 10th, at the Salem Carousel to honor our winning students and World Beat Festival volunteers. The World Beat Festival will take place on June 29th and 30th, at Riverfront Park in Salem.
