Sprague Student-Athletes and Families,
Recently, our District made a decision to put our own restrictions in place to help limit exposure to our students and staff and help stop the spread of this virus. Effective Monday, November 16th, all co-curricular workouts, and activities are paused for two weeks. This includes indoor and outdoor activities. Our hope is that the numbers will improve and assist in us getting back into school to continue workouts with our athletic teams following OHA, OSAA, and District COVID protocols. In addition, we are waiting on a decision for having Season 2 (basketball, swimming, wrestling, and other activities) by the Oregon Schools Activities Association on December 7th.
Last August, the OSAA unveiled a new plan for the 2020-21 school year. The decision by the OSAA executive board is to move Fall sports to the Spring and create shortened sports schedules for each of our traditional seasons starting at the end of December. Instead of Fall, Winter and Spring seasons, we will use Seasons 1-4. You will find a link to the OSAA schedules.
Participation Requirements for all OSAA and Salem-Keizer Public Schools Athletic & Activity Programs
Student athletes must have an up-to-date sport physical in order to participate. The sport physical must be valid throughout the entire season of participation.
"A school district shall require students who continue to participate in extracurricular sports in grades 7 through 12 to have a physical examination once every two years."
Sprague competes in the 6A classification Mountain Valley Conference and has a long history of winning district, regional and state level competitions.
